Cloud Development
From the Inside Out
Building software is complex. There’s so much that goes into developing, orchestrating and operating cloud applications, we often wind up with a piecemeal, fractured view.
We tend to grapple with things sideways, absorbing what demands our attention at the moment. We get enough of a grip to get the job done, filling in other areas as they relate, eventually hoping to tie everything together into a cognitive whole at some point.
The speed of innovation doesn’t help. As soon as you lop off one hydra head, another paradigm or tactic comes along, and instead of a new head, an entirely new hydra appears.
This series gives you a “mind-framework” for understanding how the cloud software development works with a cohesive approach.
As the series progresses we’ll develop a thorough taxonomy of the cloud that will reveal the underlying unity in apparent diversity.
What I am offering here is a way-of-thinking about things, and a mental model that can serve you as you adventure into far flung realms of cloud dev. It will help to draw together into a united thought-frame all the apparently disparate elements, from microservices to UI architecture, from devops to Platform-as-a-service, from API to toolchains.
