Your reply got me thinking. There really is a huge gulf between people who know about and use languages and someone who knows the internals of language building, like you working on the JVM.

I mean, usually we treat the language like a car, push the gas, turn the wheel. No thought about the throttle cable or power steering pump, if you know what I mean.

I’m a real admirer of the achievements that enable us to do what we do now, and I wish we would take more moments to appreciate it.

Both Java and JS are extraordinary achievements. That’s for sure.
